Parents who book a vacation where there is something to do for their teenagers can enjoy the Spanish sun and the warm waters of the Spanish Mediterranean. The biggest attraction in the south is just 7 km from the coast of the historic city of Tarragona. PortAventura is The largest theme park in Spain, which many thrill-seekers consider the best in the country. Attractions range from dragon Khan’s disorienting speed with its eight coups to the 85-foot-tall Hurakan Condor fall in Mexico’s theme park area. PortAventura also has a large water park with an artificial beach and plenty of slides to keep visitors busy on a sunny day.
The Roman ruins of Tarragona are close enough for holidaymakers who like to explore historic sites, but Barcelona may be more suitable for a family holiday. For sports fans there are two leading Spanish football clubs, including FC Barcelona, arguably the best football team in the world. The metro ride to Barcelona opens up a world of exciting possibilities, including trips to the Barcelona zoo and some of the best city beaches in Europe. Visitors interested in architecture can see Gaudi’s best works in Eschample, starting with the converted Casa Batillo.
Instead of taking a quick break from the city as part of a beach holiday, families can head to the French capital, Paris, to visit Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios. The second park, which opened ten years after the first in 2002, offers excellent rides for older children. Rock and roller coasters are a special favorite, offering runners up to 5G.
All Disneyland Paris packages are for parents who can relax at the new Celestia Spa at Disneyland. There are also regular buses from the resort to the nearby La Vall’e shopping centre, where you can buy designer clothes, homewares and discounted art. Outside of Disneyland, holidaymakers can enjoy the various pleasures of Paris, starting with the most recognizable monument of the city – the Eiffel Tower. Walking through the nearby Park of Mars Field, tourists can take the subway and see the beautiful collections of the Louvre.
